Jim Gagnon

 Jim is a well traveled musician, storyteller, and performer extraordinaire. He is also an educator, performing in schools, resorts, and festivals around the world. Jim is fascinated by the diversity and the wisdom of the native cultures, especially in music and stories. He inspires a renewed appreciation of nature and culture, through the performing arts, workshops, and craft making projects. He is on staff at Jim Donovan’s Rhythm Renewal, and currently is an Artist in Residence in Albemarle County. He is also an instrument maker and recording artist, whose music has been used for film, yoga classes and several dance projects. Mike Deaton

Mike Deaton is a teacher and music facilitator from Harrisonburg, VA. He blends drums and percussion instruments from around the world with his own improvisational style to share music that is both fresh and ancestral. As a performer, Mike has shared the stage with members of the multi-platinum recording group Rusted Root, singer/songwriter Vinx, frame drum master Glen Velez, and many more. He has played for school assemblies, festival crowds as large as 5,000 people, and everything in between. And he once had the honor of performing for Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Mike also hosts workshops, drum circles, and community events based on rhythm and music. His website is
